TOP FIVE EVENTS
In a few short weeks, our Water's Edge Missionary team will travel to Romania. While there, they will be taking 25 Romanian children to a Christian summer camp. Most of the children have never had a Christian camp experience, so this is a great way to show them the love and truth of Jesus. We are asking families at Water's Edge to consider sponsoring a Romanian child at camp, and the cost to do so is $200 per child. Please check out the pictures and information on our display table, and consider giving what you can to get these children to camp. Sponsorship checks can be made out to Water's Edge with "Romania Sponsorship" written in the memo line. Then place them in the offering plate during Sunday worship. Beginning Wednesday evening, July 9, from 7:00-8:15 p.m., Pastor Patrick will be teaching a new DTU (Disciple Training University) course on a fascinating book by Dinesh D’Souza entitled, “What’s So Great About Christianity?” The class will also be taped for online viewing, so please join us in person so that the taping sessions will have some real oomph! Our next Fun Summer Night gathering will be a 'Water Night' on our church property, including water balloon contests, a dunk booth, a water slide, and possibly even a surprise visit by a fire truck! The event is set for Thursday evening July 10, starting at 6:30 p.m. The invitation of friends and neighbors is a key goal for each event, so be looking for whom your family might bring along. As you hear us consistently say, it takes a lot of faithful volunteers to make our Children's weekend DTX programs successful. One key area of help is the monthly prep of the classroom lesson hands-on projects. The next gathering devoted to preparing these projects will be Tuesday, July 22, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Childcare is provided for the younger ones, so be encouraged to come out and pitch in! We are offering you the opportunity for your child to have fun while you get out and spend some time together as adults. Whether you want to see a movie, enjoy a nice dinner, or get together with friends, we will take care of your child in a safe, fun environment.

Mission Launching Adventure
This August, Water's Edge will bring on board a mission-planter in training. This man (and his family) will spend the next 2-3 years immersed in the missions and ministries of Water's Edge, and learning the ropes of mission church leadership and launching. The funding for this mission planter is made possible by a partnership with the Texas District of the Lutheran Church and a mission launching coalition of North Texas Lutheran congregations. Pastor Patrick will serve as lead mentor/trainer for the mission planter, and our entire congregation will provide encouragement, prayers, and support as this exciting new chapter of mission launching unfolds.
The new mission church will be launched somewhere in the fast growing North Texas suburbs, and the exact site location will be determined by the mission planter sometime in the next couple years. Keep this all in your prayers, and bear in mind, this is another adventure we're privileged to embrace because Eternity Does Matter Most! And by the way, the mission planter has been identified and approved, but because of paperwork processing still to be done, we can't release his name to you for a few more weeks. So, stay tuned for the impending announcement!
Voting Disciple Meeting
On Sunday July 20th we will hold a brief yet important meeting of Water’s Edge voting disciples. This meeting will take place at 10:20am, between the first and second worship service. At the meeting, the voting/engaged disciples of Water’s Edge will put their stamp of approval on the calling of our mission planter in training (who will be coming on board this August). This mission planter in training will be funded by a partnership between Water’s Edge, the Texas District of the Lutheran Church, and a Coalition of Circuit 8 Lutheran Churches (the circuit we are in.)
While the funding of this mission-planter-in-training comes from multiple sources outside of Water’s Edge, the calling of the chosen mission planter must come from within our congregation since we are serving as the lead launching and mentoring site. Please keep these exciting mission developments in your prayers, as the Great Commission of our Savior most certainly continues!
Mission Stimulus Challenge
We were blessed to have 40 families pledge a portion of their government stimulus check for the support of mission and ministry endeavors in our midst. We were also blessed to have eight additional donors pledge monies toward the new grass currently being added to our property. We received matching funds of $1,300 from Thrivent Financial, an insurance and investment company, who supports Lutheran churches. Praise God for the spirit of generosity He continues to cultivate in our midst—generous living flows from the generous love of our saving God! Thanks for making the mission stimulus pledge drive a great success… and please remember to fulfill your pledge when your rebate check arrives.

Guest Worship Leader - July 13

Wednesday Night Worship
Every Wednesday evening we host an intimate, adult communion service at the church. The service is forty minutes in length, and is designed to offer a spiritual "boost" to the ongoing journey of faith. So, if you've had a rough week, missed weekend worship, or are just looking for a little pick-me-up from God's Word and Sacrament, join us at 6:00 p.m. Please note, infant care is always available, but no children's ministry programs are offered.
Adult DTX (Discipleship Training X-periences)
Pastor Patrick's Wednesday Night DTX Courses: Beginning this Wednesday evening, July 9, from 7:00-8:15 p.m., Pastor Patrick will teach a DTU (Disciple Training University) course entitled, "What's So Great About Christianity?" Men’s Bible Study: The Men’s group currently meets for fellowship and study Thursday mornings at 6:30 a.m. at the church. We will be spending the next few weeks studying "Rick Warren's Bible Study Methods: Twelve Ways You Can Unlock God's Word". The study explores the many different ways we can study God’s Word and dig deeper for the riches it contains. Anyone who desires to dig deeper in God’s Word should plan on attending. Men's Fall Retreat 2008: Our 2nd annual Men's Houseboating Retreat is scheduled for September 19-21 on Lake Texoma. Join us for a great time of fellowship and faith renewal. Mark your calendars now! Tweeners DTX: Our desire is for your Tweeners to have engaging, fun, and meaningful opportunities to grow in their relationship with Jesus as well as in their relationships with one another. Tweener DTX meets every Sunday Morning at 9:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. during worship. They also meet monthly for a fun outing.

Children’s DTX (Age 2 - 2nd grade)
Children’s DTX is for children age two through second grade. They meet together each week mid-way through worship service for exciting and fun age appropriate lessons and crafts.
Be watching for the coloring pages that your child brings home from Children’s DTX each weekend. On the back of the sheet are follow up activities, questions and Bible verses to help you discuss the theme/story that your child talked about in DTX. If you missed out, a copy can be picked up in the Children’s DTX rooms.
Precious Preschoolers /Playgroup (ages 2-5): Precious Preschoolers is a gathering for Moms or Dads and their preschoolers that meet at 10:30am the 2nd Wednesday of every month. On the 4th Wednesday, join them for a playgroup type outing.

Baby Clothes Ministry
Do your child’s outgrown clothes need a new home? Please feel free to donate any of your infant or toddler's gently used clothes to our local women's shelter, Hope’s Door. We will have a box in the church nursery each week. Please make sure the clothes are washed and folded neatly in bags. Please no hangers and make sure the sizes are easily visible. Toy Box Ministry
The mission of this ministry is to collect new toys throughout the year and distribute those toys as gifts to needy children, sharing a message of hope in Jesus Christ to both the children and their families.
